Thanks to EViaggio.it, users setting off in their electric car can check which properties have charging points
The lack of charging infrastructure is one of the main obstacles to the uptake of electric cars. More and more drivers interested in buying a new battery-powered car are still very wary about charging points, which are particularly hard to find on Italian roads. To make it easier to search for this kind of infrastructure, engineer Nicola Carlon decided to launch the project EViaggio.it.
It is a platform that allows travellers to search for hotels in Italy that have a charging point for electric cars, a factor not to be underestimated for anyone setting off in their battery-powered car. After using them, users can also choose to review the infrastructure they have used, covering every aspect: the connector type, the power output, whether the service is free or not and compatibility with cars of all makes. This is something new for Italian hotels, given that the apps and booking portals available today do not take EV charging points into account. To date, the EViaggio.it platform lists over 1,300 destinations. It is worth remembering that it is completely free to use, for both owners and users.
“When choosing hotels and restaurants I always rely on Booking.com and TripAdvisor, but on both platforms the charging information is unclear – Carlon himself explained to Il Sole 24 Ore – Once I even discovered that a hotel had listed the charging point in the nearby public car park as its own, and couldn't even tell me what connectors it had. Among the many apps for finding charging points, there was nothing dedicated exclusively to Destination Charger, where owners could also claim their property, update the information and reply to reviews”.
